About Project
The Dhimi Kar Yar Ma Monastery is located in the middle of rice fields. About seven nearby villages primarily depend on rice farming for their livelihood, and many of the villagers face economic hardships. To attend the government school, children must travel approximately two hours from their village. In the surrounding area, there is only one government school and two monastic schools.
That school currently offers classes from KG to Grade 7. In 2015, a Japanese foundation donated a four-classroom building. The school has around 230 students, and those four classrooms are used for teaching Grades 4, 5, 6, and 7. As a result, the remaining students must study in an old, deteriorating building that was constructed approximately 70 years ago. The classrooms in that building lack proper partitions, causing disturbances between classes due to noise. Additionally, the building also serves as a communal hall, so during village religious ceremonies and festivals, students must vacate the premises.
The head monk has a strong commitment to cleanliness and has also taught students proper waste disposal, maintenance, and environmental sanitation practices. To support such a promising school and ensure that students have sufficient classrooms for uninterrupted learning, a four-classroom building was donated.
